About Us

Broughton Craggs Hotel was originally built as a Gentleman's residence in 1858.

It was converted to a hotel in 1975.

Family Run Hotel.

Above the banks of the River Derwent with rolling views over the Lakeland fells to the slopes of Skiddaw, Broughton Craggs Hotel with its own extensive grounds and gardens offer the visitor the opportunity to enjoy the special hospitality and first-class cuisine of the Hotel in a tranquil setting.

On the edge of a traditional Cumbrian village and yet only 2 miles from the centre of Cockermouth (Wordsworth's birthplace), and only 7 miles from the West Cumbrian Coast, Broughton Craggs is an ideal base for a wide variety of interests and activities.

The hotel and grounds offer a memorable setting for Weddings and other functions, and our staff and chef will be delighted to discuss your special wishes and provide advice if necessary to ensure your celebration is a total success.

Julie and Derek Horton have owned the hotel since the Spring of 2006 and during that period it has been through considerable refurbishment keeping the character of the beautiful building yet extending the services the family run hotel has to offer.

Julie and Derek have been in the hospitality business for over 25 years and they understand the needs of their customers.

The staff at Broughton Craggs are committed to make your stay a pleasure and provide a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
